Your Weekend to Welcome Fall

In Colorado, fall tip-toes in like a six year old trying to grab an extra cookie before dinner. I feel her presence and know exactly what she’s up to, but since I don’t really mind, I smile and keep her not-so secret. Who doesn’t want an early treat from time to time? While our days are still warm, mornings and evenings are cool, so mums and pumpkins don’t seem one bit out of place.

This weekend brings family, friends, and football to our neck of the woods. We grin happy that our Oklahoma State Cowboys won, but I’m not gonna lie: The feeler in me wants to bust out a hug for every Savannah State player. 84 to 0…ouch. That had to hurt.

Speaking of embracing fall, I have it on good authority that Tuesday is the day Starbucks breaks out their salted caramel and pumpkin flavored goodies. Yippee and you’re welcome.

{Can somebody in Savannah treat the Savannah State football team to one? Please?}

Also, we have a winner for Lisa Leonard’s ‘let your heart shine’ bracelet! The winner is comment #65, Stacey.

Stacey, I’ll email you for your contact info lickety split.

Darlings, may your stretched out weekend be one filled with faith, family, and friends. May your favorite football team win. And may you feel in the deepest of your deepest parts that God’s abundance is your assurance today.

Enjoy your weekend, folks!

Your Weekend to Take Home the Gold

‘Tis the season for the summer Olympics!

{And all the folks with Olympic fever say, “Amen!”}

Will you be watching? What’s your favorite sport? Every time I think about that, I list a whole bunch of them with gymnastics barely finishing first. In my mind’s eye, I can still see myself sitting on my Daddy’s lap in my one piece bathing suit {aka leotard} and watching Mary Lou Retton vault perfection. But then there’s swimming, and I get so into those swimming races I watch while jumping up and down like a crazy person. The outcome of a good swimming race changes quick as lightening, so they’re mighty exciting to watch. No matter the sport, cheering for your home peeps never gets old. So we do just that and heartily applaud when our fellow Americans snag another medal.

I don’t know what you have planned this weekend. Maybe something noteworthy, maybe something mundane. If you’re like me, your Olympics watching will be mixed in with some housey to-do’s and school shopping. And if you’re like me, you won’t be getting any awards for your mad laundry folding or deal finding skills. But if you do your best and listen real close, you will hear a King on His throne cheering you on with a resounding,

“Well done, good and faithful servant!”

And then you rest knowing the Champion of your soul finds all you do worthy of a gold medal and so. much. more.

And the Lord has declared this day that you are his people, his treasured possession as he promised, and that you are to keep all his commands. He has declared that he will set you in praise, fame and honor high above all the nations he has made and that you will be a people holy to the Lord your God, as he promised.   Deuteronomy 26:18-19

Your Weekend to Get What You Hope For

We already have a dog, a Shiba Inu named Lola. We got her from a dog rescue a couple years ago, and she acts more like a cat than a dog. She considers a game of fetch undignified and spends most of her time hiding in her doghouse or under furniture. She only likes being with people when it’s her idea, and it’s almost never her idea.

So after two years of kids begging and hoping for a dog who acted like a dog-dog rather than a cat-dog, we said yes and brought home this sweet, melt-your-heart chocolate dream.

Meet the newest member of our family:

Georgie.

Or Georgiana. Or Georgette. Or Sweet Georgia Brown. Ya know, whatever we feel like calling her in the moment.

In spite of the occasional chewing mishap, she is complete joy to our family. And staying true to her labrador roots, she is a sure-thing dog that acts straight up like a dog. Of course, this also means she’s a highly demanding pup that desires constant interaction and must be let outside at 3am to tinkle. But that’s okay. That’s what pups do.

Have a great weekend, sweet friends. May it be one that spills with love, brings you what you hope for, and has everyone – people and pets alike – acting like they’re supposed to. I love you!

Your Weekend to Celebrate

**Giveaway now closed.**

School is over and out, y’all! Let the schedule abandonin’, alarm clock throwin’, summertime livin’ begin!

We Strongs aren’t too shy about our love for summer. The moment we see her approach from the distance, we throw open our windows, wave her in, and embrace her bear hug style. We invite her to stay as long as possible, soaking up quality time in the form of swimming, hiking, and late evening playing. And while she’s hanging out, we Strongs eat lots of ice cream and popsicles. Our family enjoys extra time together, at least until we start to get on each other’s nerves. But even if we do get on each other’s nerves, we’ll just use it as an excuse to buy more ice cream. Because ice cream fixes just about anything.

This Sunday is also my birthday. And because y’all are such a gift to me, I feel like celebrating early. In honor of turning 38, I’m giving one reader $38 to spend on whatever she wants from DaySpring. {My current favorites are from their Redeemed Outdoor Decor collection. Super cute stuff!} To enter, just leave a comment below. For an additional entry {or two}, feel free to like my facebook page and/or subscribe here {it’s free}. Then, just leave a comment telling me you did so. The giveaway will be open until Sunday, June 3rd.

For the majority of this next week, I’ll be a little quieter here as the fam and I enjoy this first week of summer. And whether or not your kids are out of school or you are off from work, I pray your weekend brings you warm breezes, blue skies, and ice cream. And fewer dates with your alarm clock.

I love you, darlings.
